Toni GarrnOpening and closing the SS08 Calvin Klein show rocketed Toni Garrn (16) to instant stardom. This beautiful German teen is one of the most wanted models today, and on the threshold of her stellar modeling career I conducted an interview with her. Our conversation topics ranged from her love of modeling, to her definition of happiness, and to her future goals.Author: Jonathan.L - owner Models Observer December 2007 | ||

* Toni, how are you?
Toni Garrn: I'm very well, thanks. * Could you please tell me a little about your family? Toni Garrn: I live with my older brother and my mother in Hamburg. My parents are divorced but my dad lives really close... Then there are 9 boycousins who I see at least once a week. * How did you decide to be a model? Toni Garrn: I never actually decided to model but Claudia from Modelwerk scouted me on the street in Hamburg... She was the first agent that ever asked me. * Is it possible to combine school with work as one of the world's rising top models? Toni Garrn: It's not easy but it works. I do miss lots of school, but I take lots of schoolwork with me and my brother helps me catching up with the stuff I miss in my absence....beside school and modeling there is hardly any l time left for friends and hobbies. |

* Do your friends and classmates treat you differently since you have
accomplished so much in your modeling career?
Toni Garrn: Well, honestly they're all still pretty nice, they do ask a lot and some people start talking to me in school with who I've never talked to before!, it's great that they are not mean or jealous! * So, what was it like for you to open and close Calvin Klein show in New York? Toni Garrn: I was so excited because is was my first really big show! But it was much fun in the end and I liked the final best!! Toni Garrn at Calvin Klein. * I really love your French Vogue shot! What can you tell me about the process of creating such great photos? Toni Garrn: The French Vogue images where very clean, natural and simple! It's just me and some jewellery and I think thats maybe why everyone likes these pictures so much! * How does a week in the life of Toni Garrn look like? Toni Garrn: First of all I go to school from Monday to Friday and I take lots of free days, holidays and weeksends for jobs but these are also sometimes in a schoolweek, so sometimes I leave Hamburg in the evening for Paris for example, then I work the next day, fly back on the same day and go to school on the next one... thats how it normaly looks like but sometimes I stay little longer but mostly never more than a week. Then when I'm home I do lots of schoolwork, play tennis or go out with friends. * Voltaire, the famous French philosopher and writer, said once: "Common sense is not so common". What do you think? Toni Garrn: Most people of my friends, family and the people I work with do have commom sense, so it's not true regarding the people I'm around with. * How would you define success? And how would you define happiness? Toni Garrn: For me success is to get good jobs and being able to finish my school at the same time. For me happiness is having fun with my friends when we go out together, because this is very rare. * What is the biggest compliment you have received? Toni Garrn: Well, a make-up artist once told me I have pretty feet, which I till now doubt. * How is your room decorated? Toni Garrn: My room is small and simple but I like it. I don't have any free space to decorate anything but it's really cosy. * What do you like to do in your free time? Toni Garrn: I try to use all of my free time with my family and my friends because I hardly get to see them anyways. But besides that I play tennis or go shopping or go to the gym... * Which opportunities do you see in the fashion world? What do you plan to achieve in your career goals? Toni Garrn: I love travelling and meeting new people and of course it's great getting good jobs, but the jobs I like best are the shows!
