Christine SmithAs a teen she was always at the library... far from stardom. Two years ago, mesmerizing Christine Smith was crowned as Playboy's Miss December 2005. In our interview, Christine described her experiences as a Playmate, gave us a taste of life as a redhead, and also a lesson on dog training!Author: Jonathan.L - owner Models Observer November 2007 * Christine, what do redheads have that the rest of us don't? Christine Smith: I think red heads are defiantly different from other women! From the day we are born we have to get use to being in the spotlight.When you have red hair people defiantly stare! When I was a baby my mom had to put a hat on me to go to the store because so many people would stop her to look at me. I think this constant attention from such a young age makes you more confident and comfortable in your own skin. * What was it like to grow up in San Dimas? What kind of teenager were you? Christine Smith: I was born in San Dimas but moved to Utah when I was young. I was always at the library as a teen. Most days I would read two books from the young adult section a day. Every summer I would read all the books in the Y.A. section and have to wait until more would come in. * Who or what influenced you to become a Playboy centerfold? Christine Smith: I ended up being in Playboy because my friend wanted to try out. Steven Wada saw me and talked me in to taking a few polo raids and sent it to Hef. They called me a week later to do a test shoot and three days after that they called to tell me "Congratulations your Miss December!" I started shooting right a way and we shot until the last day we had to turn the pics in to be published. I was one of the quickest girls to be in the magazine from the time they found me to the day the issue came out was only a few months. It didn't really seem real until I saw my name in the back of the November issue. The photographers joked that girls should never bring a friend to auditions because nine times out of ten they pick the friend! She and I are speaking again though... * What have been some of the mental and physical challenges involved with making your nude pictures? Christine Smith: Well, all of my mental fears went out the window after the first day. When you meet the photographers you realize that they have shot every celebrity who has been in the magazine and they take about three hours setting up the lighting because if everything isn't perfect Hef will make them re-shoot it. So when you drop your robe you really realize that they have been doing this every day for twenty years and could care less about seeing another nude girl, they are just worried about taking great pictures. There defiantly were physical challenges! They discovered me in August and they had to start shooting right away because they wanted me to be Miss December and that issue comes out in November so we shot everyday until the last day they had to send in pictures to be published. Most girls shoot for a week, I shot for over a month, so I was extremely sore! * If you took a sheet of paper and a pencil, what would you list as the assets you have that you're proud to own? Christine Smith: My physical assets I like the most are my hair color and legs. I don't think I could have been born with any other hair color, I am defiantly a red head! I love that my legs are naturally so muscular. Even if I don't exercise for a month it looks like I have been to the gym. * Your beauty is rare and intoxicating. How would you describe the demand for your beauty in the modeling industry? How fierce is the competition you confront with blondes and brunettes? Christine Smith: I think there is a great demand for my look in fitness modeling. My hair really stands out but I don't look like the "typical" red head, pale with freckles. You rarely see tan red heads and that really stands out. I don't really ever feel that I am competing with anyone. I know that most people, when they are looking to hire a girl for a shoot have a idea of what look they are looking for and they try to find the girl that most closely matches it. Centerfolds |
