* Dana, how are you?

Dana Hamm: I'm great, but a little tired, thanks! I just got back from a 5-day booking in Las Vegas. I'm the official Spokesmodel for SinFuel Choppers and the National Hotrod Association, so I have to attend the races and be there to meet and greet all the fans! It's a lot of fun, but at the end of the weekend - I'm beat, especially when it's in Vegas! LOL!!

* How would you describe yourself?

Dana Hamm: Real. I'm very down-to-earth, sincere, and funny. I really like to laugh and have a good time, but at the same time I can be really focused and driven for more serious causes such as business or conservation.
I feel like I have a well-balanced personality, especially for a model. LOL!! I'm definitely not your typical model, that's for sure. I'm not prissy. I don't live for shopping and parties. I love to travel and meet all kinds of people under various, but real and honest circumstances.

* What kind of kid were you growing up in Sanford, North Carolina?

Dana Hamm: I was your typical kid in many ways; sheltered, maybe a little insecure, a little tomboyish, but very outgoing and interested in the world, especially in nature and wildlife. I had a wonderful loving and supportive family, so that in itself made life a lot easier than so many other kids had it. Of course, I ran into my share of bullies. I was teased quite a bit for being skinny.

I really was severely under weight, but I couldn't help it. I was healthy and normal, but for some reason I couldn't gain weight…like at all. I don't think I hit 100 lbs until my junior year, and keep in mind that I was approximately between 5'6 - 5'8”. LOL!!

* How long have you been modeling? Have you always been comfortable with showing off your body?

Dana Hamm: I have been modeling since I was a kid, but my professional career didn't take off until about 7-8 years ago.

Yes, I have always been comfortable with my body. It was the bullies in school who made me feel I had something to hide. My legs were particularly long and thin, so mean kids targeted that area most. I attended a private school where we had to wear skirts and dresses. Although, I looked like a bag of bones in my clothes, I was smart enough to know that my body looked good in a swimsuit. LOL!! I was one of the lucky sticks who were blessed with a butt and boobs. So, at the end of my 10th grade school year all the high school kids planned to go to the lake. I knew that was my chance to show off my bikini-ready body. LOL!! It worked! Everyone did a double-triple take! After that day people had a new found respect for me and being really thin.

* What were the circumstances which led to you start fitness training after earning your bachelors degree in Psychiatric Social Work?

Dana Hamm: It was something I really enjoyed. It was hands-on and direct. It was also a business that I could control and promote just by going to the gym and showing-off my body. Really easy! Plus, I've always liked helping people, and that was a way I could positively affect people's lives and outlooks, especially women.

I was tired of university life and sick of following their rules and falling under someone else's control whether it was professors or administration, etc… I wanted to do what I wanted to do.

* How do you stay so fit? What is your fitness routine?

Dana Hamm: Oh, I do a little bit of everything and then sometimes I do nothing. LOL!! It's so hard when you travel. Overall, I just try to watch what I eat, because food has the biggest effect on my body. Working out is definitely important and of course it's very sculpting, but I've seen people who consistently train for years and years, yet they still hold a lot of fat. So, a lot of dieting and strength training 3 days per week is my routine. I also do Yoga and Pilates as well.

* What would you consider your biggest accomplishment so far?

Dana Hamm: Mmm... I'm really not sure, because it all depends on who's asking. Some people think magazine layouts and covers are the biggest, and I've done many. Others think that ad campaigns and endorsements are gold, and I've done some of those too. So, right now I'm not sure how I feel.

I used to think that having my own line of sexy calendars and pinup posters on the international market was pretty big!

I really think the best is yet to come…I've got some big things coming up in 2008!
