* Irina, happy new year! How are you, what was Christmas like for you?
Irina Voronina: Happy New Year Everybody!! Christmas was great, thank you for asking. In Russia Christmas is celebrated on January 7th, but I play along and roll with the Holiday spirit. * Do you have childhood memories or stories that seem to connect with your adult decision to pursue career in modeling and acting? Irina Voronina: Just like every little girl I wanted to be a model, an actress and a rock star growing up. However, in Russia I was never considered to be a standard of beauty. I was always considered to be cute, but average. When I was 5 or so I told my Grandpa that I was going to enter a beauty contest when I grow up and become a professional model. He was laughing so hard at first and then he had a talk with me that unfortunately some dreams may never come true, because I didn't have any physical qualities for it. Despite my Grandfather's opinion my favorite thing to do growing up was to put on a "one woman" fashion show on New Year's Eve, where I got to put make up on and dress up in my Mom's clothes, shoes and hats to show off to the guests who came to the party. These were the best of times where I felt like I was on the runway, in front of the cameras and I gave me the confidence that I was born to model!!! |

* What does success mean and how is it measured? And, does a great
success as yours come from within or can it be taught?
Irina Voronina: I have heard of a lot of overnight success stories in both modeling and acting. However, for me success always meant a lot of hard work, focus and dedication. Nothing ever came easy for me. I just never took no for an answer and kept doing everything to reach my goals. It is one thing to be gorgeous, know how to pose or deliver your lines, but just that alone won't get you anywhere. Some people give up because they can't deal with the rejection. Some girls are not disciplined enough to wake up early and to even make it to the casting call. You have to be professional when on a job, I see younger models nowadays complaining A LOT about virtually everything... I learned one thing about Hollywood: It's not about how good you are, but how good you are to work with. I completely agree with this statement. I don't think you can teach someone how to be successful. It just takes a strong determined person to become successful in this business and to maintain the level of success. * How did you become St. Pauli Girl Spokesmodel? Irina Voronina: It was somewhat of a long process. I was called into a St Pauli Girl casting call that was sent to the agencies throughout Southern California. From thousands of submissions a few hundred girls were put on tape. I ended up among 7 finalists, who met with the executives in person, before the final decision was made. About 3 weeks after the last interview, when I was convinced that they went with someone else, my manager called me: "How would you like to be a 2008 St Pauli Girl?". * How much beer can you drink before you fall over? Irina Voronina: That would naturally be a lot, I am from Russia, the drinking capital of the world!! * Does beauty equal power? And to what extent is the female quest for beauty a quest for power? Irina Voronina: "Beauty is a form of Genius- is higher, indeed, than Genius, as it needs no explanation". Oscar Wilde. * Do you feel today more Russian or American? Why? Irina Voronina: I left Russia many years ago, and over the many years away from my home I have matured and grown into the person I am today. I like to refer to myself as a "Cosmopolitan Product" due to the influences of the many countries I have lived in. When I first came to the US I instantly felt right at home here, very welcomed, like I never felt anywhere else before. I am American now, I feel American, but at the same time I am very proud of Russian history and Russia as a nation. I like going home to visit, but I will never go back for good. I've embraced the United States and I love this country, however I also won't forget my roots. * What exactly do Playboy playmates/Playboy bunnies do? What's your life like behind the cameras? Irina Voronina: Shooting for Playboy in January 2001 was definitely a wonderful experience. I pretty much lead a normal everyday life. I still do my own laundry and pick up my own groceries. I am just a normal everyday person in my time off. * In what decade do you think the Playboy Playmates were the most beautiful? Irina Voronina: Funny you asked that, because I just bought a book that's called "The Complete Book Of Centerfolds" that includes photos of Playmates from Marylin Monroe up to today. I was fascinated flipping through those pages. I think the most beautiful era was late 70's to early 80's. The bar for becoming a Playmate was very high back then. There was no photo retouching or plastic surgery, and yet every playmate looked like an ultimate supermodel. In my opinion these were the "Golden Days" of Playboy. * How often do you use your sexuality to get special treatment from others? Irina Voronina: Never! I don't project sex-appeal for instance, when trying to get my car washed. I wait in a line just like everyone else. That would not be a very polite thing to do. * Can you remember a time when your sexuality wasn't apparent? Irina Voronina: See, I can tell it's a guy asking me this question. I feel like men are always aware of their sexuality and this is what drives them through life. Men are sexually driven. Women are different, we are not driven by sex and I think men find it sexy when a woman's sexuality isn't necessarily "apparent" as you call upon it, or always turned up all the way. It just needs to come out at the right moment. * How much sex is required for a woman to stay satisfied? What would you consider the definition of a nympho? How much sex is too much? Irina Voronina: I think it's different for each individual and cannot be measured in this question. * I would be delighted if you'd tell me the story of this photo? Irina Voronina: I was a series regular on Adult Swim's "Saul of the Molemen" on Cartoon Network. I played Fallopia, the Mutant Mole Woman is considered a hideous, wretched beast by her own kind, but to us humans, she looks like a drop-dead gorgeous blonde. This was a "behind the scenes" picture with one of the cast members. http://wiki.adultswim.com/xwiki/bin/Saul+of+the+Mole+Men/Fallopia * What 3 things do you hate most? Irina Voronina: Cold temperatures, waiting, and people on drugs. * Please tell me about you famous motto - "All or nothing. Better to burn up than to fade out." What does it mean and how does it work? Irina Voronina: Actually it was misinterpreted. The actual quote was "All or nothing!". I always give one hundred and twenty percent in anything I do. I think that about sums it up. * How do you react when you find out someone bought you a Christmas present but you didn't buy them one? Irina Voronina: I won't feel bad. I'll just consider it my belated Birthday Gift :-) (My Birthday is on December 19). * What are your hobbies? Irina Voronina: I love tooling around on my computer, retouching photos, editing movies, and testing out new software. I am working on my Website, set to be launched in January 2009. I am a home body, I have 2 cats and they are my hobby as well. * What's next for you in 2009? Irina Voronina: I hope many new and exciting projects will come my way. I am going to keep working hard on my dreams, my career, and to becoming more and more successful! Centerfolds | |
