Susan Wayland

Latex is incredibly form fitting and clings to every curve of the female body. Susan Wayland (Sway) is a German-born fetish model who specializes in latex, meaning she is one of a few women who can wear this marvellous maerial and look absolutely stunning. I had the honor to interview Susan and discover her beauty, personality and profound intellect.

1. Susan, thanks for offering your time for this interview. How are you doing?

Susan Wayland: Thank you! I'm fine. I just came back from beautiful Greece where I did some pretty nice photo shootings with Norman. I loved this beautiful landscape. It's fantastic and I am also impressed by getting to know different cultures around the globe. I enjoy this really much.

2. What experiences have fostered your interest in a modeling career?

Susan Wayland: As long as I can remember I always loved to play different characters or to slip into various rolls. In my childhood I used to play in a theater and dancing group and later, when I became a teenager I began to discover my female attributes as a young woman by starting to flirt with a camera just the way I flirted with my boyfriend. Also my affection for extraordinary clothing materials such as latex and leather made the posing in front of a camera so exciting for me. I felt, like I never felt before: very sexy and femine. Especially when I experienced how different I looked on all these photos: pretty, sexy, naughty, devilish, sporty, sweet, funny, elegant and many more - it all got me into modeling. And still I want more (smiles).

3. Why do you like latex? What really turns you on when you feel/see latex?

Susan Wayland: Latex indeed is a gorgeous material. It is so soft, shiny and flows over your body like a second skin. When I am wearing latex clothes I feel every move I make and every touch much more intensive - in a way it is just like being naked. I also think that it smells like vanilla. (smiles).

So, when I am wearing a latex catsuit I am able to show every curve of my body without truly beeing naked. After all, it's an exciting play with people's fantasy and their illusions and all is accentuated by the reflections and shinyness of the latex. Latex can embody perfection, just like you would gaze at a painting in a comic or watch a science fiction movie.

4. Tell me a little bit about your childhood and family in Leipzig.

Susan Wayland: Well, I grew up in Leipzig until I was 19. Then I moved to Brunswick. On the one hand you could say that I was a typical girl, as I played with puppets and had a weakness for skirts. On the other hand I truly behaved like a little boy. I rode my bicycle, I enjoyed playing soccer (you know this is the typical German sport activity) and I played with toy cars, armors and was the first one to climb up on trees. As you might know I grew up in Eastern Germany. The time when the wall between eastern and western Germany broke down I was 8 years old. I would not say that I'm a typical girl from Eastern Germany, but as a child I learned things such as how to handle a drill, a saw, how to cook, how to repair clothes and how to take care for myself. Me, my sister and also all of my friends grew up in a world where TV was by far not that important than it was for other kids in my age. Truly, I am very thankful for that. For sure, everthing changed in 1989, but especially when I remember my childhood time I can say that it was very happy.

5. What are you influenced by? Where do you find inspiration for your beautiful work?

Susan Wayland: I'm really keen on everthing that is aesthetic and on things that offer a good optical characteristic. You can also say that I am an extreme perfectionistic woman. It's important to me that a model performs as professional as possible and that even the smallest details are fitting together perfectly. So at the beginning of my modeling career I looked for first-class, unique, artistic and what's even more important, beautiful photography. Finally I found the work of gorgeous Suzen Randal and was overwhelmed by her knowledge, better to say the lightening, the dresses and locations and of course her ability to have an eye for all these things. I knew that her photography is considered to be porn and doing porn wasn't my motivation at all. But nevertheless, her style is amazing in my point of view. She is someone I really respect, because she wisely knows how to select the best pictures out of already the best pictures. And concerning your question about inspiration I got of models I would choose Caprice Bourret and Jenna Jameson. Well, you can say a lot about Jenna, but without a doubt she made a lot of beautiful, sexy and also artistic photos! Both models are beautiful, healthy and trimly looking, sexy. They have a perfect body and the certain je nes sais quois. And in my opinion they implement all details that are important or all details a model should have.

6. You've made quite a name for yourself in the fetish scene! In your opinion, why do you think you attract so much attention?

Susan Wayland: Actually the photographs are the figurehead for SusanWayland. Norman Richter and I permanentely are continuing to developed our skills. We do not want to stop working and having new ideas and giving our pictures a new style. We both always have various new projects and ideas in our minds that we want to realize. If you look over our work from the beginning up to the point where we are standing now our development is enourmous. Most of our fans are following us since the days of the beginning and they are happy with the direction we are taking. We are always thankful receiving their nice comments in our forum about every single gallery. Such feedback is very atypical and therefore it makes us very proud. To be honest, it pays us for all our work.

Certainly it might also be the person Susan herself who attracts the attention in and outside the scene. I like it to be different with extraordinary outfits, makeup or hair styling. Last but not least taking care of myself is very important to me and I think that's something what you can enjoy in my works (smiles). I guess there are many little things the fans like in our work. From the beginning SusanWayland.com was the project between my personal and prefered photographer, webdesigner and programmer Norman Richter and me. We both are quite disciplined and well organized. Our working areas are seperated and we both do what each of us can do best. Norman is the one who administrates SusanWayland.com. This includes duties such as handling the support and all the programming or certainly the design and promotion issues. I'm the one who organizes the updates, doing the all the pictures and the video works. All that, and our unique photography are the main core of Susan Wayland. To deal with all these different working fields constantly for over such a long time, you need to be very perennial. For me, it is most important to stay myself and to be honest, friendly and interactive to my friends and fans. That's exactly the reason why I'm the one who is writing all the personal mails to my fans, friends, labels or designers and why I run all my nice online portfolios on myspace, facebook, twitter and other platforms. I am also constantly updating my beloved personal blog susanwaylandblog.com. I am always trying to keep it as actual as possible with lots of nice entries and new pictures.
