* Kasia, what was it like for you to participate in Dolce & Gabbana Winter
08 Campaign, by photographer Steven Klein? What do you think about the
concept?
Kasia Struss: I'm always thrilled when working with the best! There were a lot of people on set, it took quite a lot of effort to do the shots but it came out well. The photos are great! I'm so much into the idea of the photos - I like it a lot! * When and how did your career start? Kasia Struss: In 2006 I arrived at Avant Management, my mother agency in Poland. Then came contracts with Women Paris, Milan and New York, Storm in London. Another breakthrough moment for me was taking part in the Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton shows - these were my first big shows. * You have already featured in the most important magazines, such as Vogue and Numero. What is the process, and how long does it take to get such assignments? Kasia Struss: I can not tell you much about the process, am not the one who's been managing all this. I can tell you however that it took some time to finally have a chance to work with all those amazing people from top magazines. |

* Which main differences do you find between cultures and business
approaches in Paris, London and New York?
Kasia Struss: It's all about fashion, no matter where you are (smiles). * What do you like most in modeling? Kasia Struss: The opportunity it's been giving me, getting to know great people, learning languages, travelling. The job itself - the shootings, the shows, it turns me on a lot. * Where and how do you live now? Do you live in a model's apartment? Kasia Struss: For the last year I've been in constant movement and had no time to think about apartament rental. I spend most time in New York and here I've yet lived in an modeling apartament. I hope to find a roomate and rent a piece of my own place very soon though. * How would you describe your relationship with your family? Is it easy to keep in touch with them in Ciechanow when you manage a successful international career? Kasia Struss: Fortunately we live in a century where there's zero problem with communication on long distances. I'm chatting with my parents all the time, I also have a good bound with my school mates. * Describe the most unusual event in your life. Kasia Struss: the one I'm gonna tell you now is not necessarily a nice one.. One day I went with my friend to a dinner in NY's Soho district. We hardly finished eating when a firing started on the street nearby. Everybody (including us) fell on the floor screaming. Panicked we started running into the basement and that's where my friend hurt herself fallin off the stairs. Fortunately she ended up with few bruises, but 3 people were killed on the street that day! * If you weren't a model, what would you be, and why? Kasia Struss: If I wasn't modelling I'd be sitting and studying at some university in Poland. After I graduated from my High School I couldn't decide what my major should be. That's why I chose to model. I was hoping it would open new opportunities for me and help to decide what I really want to do in the future. * Francois de La Rochefoucauld, who was a French author, wrote once: "We are more interested in making others believe we are happy, than in trying to be happy ourselves." How true is it? Kasia Struss: Not true in my case at all. * What are your favorite things to do in your free time? Kasia Struss: In my free time I meet with my friends. When I have some more spare time I fly to Poland. * Do you have any plans for the near future? Kasia Struss: I must say I live from day to day and don't think far ahead. However, husband, a house, kids and a dog have a sure place in my dreams. - Special thanks to Gosia Leitner - Avant Modles, for arranging the interview with Kasia Struss. Models | |
