* Ryder, how are you?
Ryder Skye: I am good, thanks (smiles). * How and when did you get into the adult movie industry? Ryder Skye: I started in the adult industry April of 2007. I began dancing at a bikini bar in Hollywood, and then started to model in order to build a portfolio. From there, I moved on to nude photography. I decided that I was comfortable doing that which led me to seek out an agent in the adult industry to try hardcore photography and movies. After my first scene, I realized that I enjoyed it and continued to pursue it. I have been doing it ever since (no pun intended). * Was being a porn star always a passion for you? Ryder Skye: Being a porn star was not always a passion for me. In fact I didn’t even know how much I liked it until I started to do scenes. From that point it became a passion for me. * Why do you like pornography? |

Ryder Skye: I like pornography because it is fun, artistic in its own way, the people are awesome, and of course… how many jobs allow you to have sex all the time? I also believe it is a great representation of a woman’s freedom of expression. I am incorporated, so I basically run my own business (me), can take the work I want to do, and am not required to do anything I don’t feel comfortable with. It is the ideal career.
* You are not a regular porn star. As a feminist you want to challenge the subordination of women, through porn. Do you feel your message is getting across, or do you still feel resistance? Ryder Skye: I would like to think that my message is getting across. I try to apply first hand experience in my college classes to challenge ignorant views of pornography by other feminist classmates. The problem is, in this society, porn is seen as being “taboo” and “corrupt” due to puritan thinking. It is this thinking that feminists tend to feed off of expressing that women cannot be viewed as sexual beings and that we are objectified due to it. That in my opinion goes against the idea and goals of feminism in the first place. We are trying to work towards equality. * What motivates you at work and what do you find most satisfying about being a porn star? Ryder Skye: My motivation comes from the love I have for my job. I enjoying the entire experience and feel lucky to have found this profession. That in itself, is extremely satisfying. There are of course, just like any kind of work, good days and bad days. But I definitely have more good that bad. I have had many different careers, and so far, this has been the best one. * What kind of decisions have been difficult for you during your successful career? Ryder Skye: I would think the most difficult decisions have been taking on too many jobs in a short period while juggling school. I find myself bring my homework to set with me. If the days end up being longer than expected then at least I am still be productive it both areas. * What goes on in your mind when you're fucking in front of the camera? Ryder Skye: I of course have to concentrate on knowing where the camera is, making sure I am positioning myself correctly, and opening up enough so that the director gets what they need. Although, more importantly, even with all this, I try to focus on the performer I am working with. I enjoy having sex and I want my viewers to know that I am enjoying the experience. The best scenes that I have done are the ones where I feel the sex is natural and exciting. * How would you describe your orgasms? Do you come once, really explosively after a long build up, or do you orgasm several times during a scene, shuddering orgasm after shuddering orgasm? Ryder Skye: My orgasms vary actually. It just depends on how I am stimulated. I am able to have multiple orgasms if I am in the right position to. * What are the sensations you feel in your body when you cum? Ryder Skye: I feel an intense build up with a powerful release that lasts a few seconds. My entire body tenses up and then I become extremely sensitive to any stimulation after that. * What's the most unique location you've had sex, either on screen or in your personal life? Ryder Skye: The most unique locations are probably again an open refrigerator and on a haystack. * What is your wet fantasy? Ryder Skye: My wet fantasy has already been done. Ryder Skye: My worst porn experience would probably have been taking a penis that is so large that it just wouldn’t quite fit. I do have a very small vagina and it only goes so far. It just made the scene take a long time to shoot. Not to mention it was over a hundred degrees outside and the air conditioning was turned off. The combination was difficult. * Do you think enough is being done to protect actresses from STDs? Ryder Skye: I definitely think that more can be done to prevent STD’s, including giving new performers a more intensive learning experience of the risks. I don’t think that most of the girls pay very much attention to the information provided as is and end up having a very hard time when something does happen to them. Even though it isn’t popular, I still think it would be a good idea to implement condom use as a requirement. The STD rate would drop significantly. * How would you say your on screen personality differs from how you are in real life? Ryder Skye: Unless I am playing a specific character in a feature or some scripted scene, my personality is quite similar. I am pretty much me in most of my work. Like I mentioned before, I think porn should be natural, and if I get the chance, that applies to my personality as well. * What would you do if you were asked to direct a porn film? Ryder Skye: I have already written two porn scripts so I would actually love to take on the challenge. I am not sure if I am experienced enough to do an awesome directly job, but everyone has to start somewhere. * How does porn affect men and how much of that effect can be directly/indirectly said to be harmful to women? Ryder Skye: It has been said that when boys begin to view porn as a teenager, they tend to learn that it is similar to real life. Unless they are taught otherwise, then it would make sense for them to make that assumption. I wouldn’t solely blame porn for this. It is their parents and schools that should be teaching the reality of sex. Pornography provides sexual arousal and entertainment to the viewer(s). This can be compared to any mainstream film. Just because a character in a movie can jump buildings and shoot at people, doesn’t mean that everyone should have the ability to. As for adults, they should already know the difference. If people believe that porn is a misconception and is harmful to society/women, then they have to believe that movies are as well, as they depict violence. I honestly believe violence is more harmful then sex, so by that, what makes mainstream movies okay and pornography not? * What kind of guy turns you on? Ryder Skye: A guy who is humble, smart, cute, a great kisser, and makes me laugh. I know it sounds cliché but that is as accurate as it gets. * So what percentage of your friends are porn stars? Ryder Skye: I would probably assume about 50%. I have met a lot of awesome people since I started in this industry. * What do you think prevents women from enjoying sex to the full? Ryder Skye: I think one of the reasons is that society teaches through media, books, old fashion thinking, ect., that women are supposed to be frigid and to have always have an orgasm during penis in vagina intercourse w/out manual stimulation during the act (which is actually rarer than you may think). There is also hesitation with some on being comfortable with masturbation. Filling women’s heads with all of these rules prevents them from focusing on relaxing and enjoying the experience. Also, it does not allow for open communication with the person they are having sex with. Sex is an amazing and important experience if women can learn to remove “slut” from their vocabulary, be selfish and demand satisfaction, and explore their bodies through self-stimulation. * What do you like to do in your free time Ryder? Ryder Skye: I like to read Bukowski, paint, and attend acting classes. * Do you have a motto, a quote or a catchphrase that helps you get through the day?
